Sergeant Sitter’s (retired) Animal Disaster Relief (SSADR) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting homeless veterans and struggling pet owners by providing essential supplies, including pet food, to ensure both humans and their animals receive the care they need.

Founded in 2014 by Rebecca Sitter, the spouse of a retired 82nd Airborne Paratrooper veteran was critically wounded in service.  He now resides next to ft. bragg army post.

SSADR operates with a mission to alleviate the hardships faced by vulnerable populations and their pets. With a dedicated team of volunteers, the organization has been actively serving communities in North Carolina since 2015, maintaining a five-star reputation for its impact and commitment.

The need for SSADR’s services is urgent and growing. More than 37,000 veterans are homeless in the United States on any given night, many of whom rely on their pets for emotional support and companionship. However, due to financial struggles, these veterans often cannot afford to feed or care for their animals. SSADR has identified 47 homeless encampments in Fayetteville, NC, where homeless individuals and their pets face daily struggles for survival. Additionally, rural pet owners in Cumberland and Hoke counties face economic hardships that make it difficult to afford pet food and veterinary care.  we are happy to serve our civilian friends, our communities, and rescues as well.
